Assistant/Associate Professor Director, Clinical Education Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

UMHB’s Mayborn College of Health Sciences seeks a Director of Clinical Education for its Doctor of Physical Therapy Program beginning in Spring 2027, with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The program is seeking applicants with expertise in cardiopulmonary or integumentary physical therapy and experience in clinical education; individuals with expertise in other areas of physical therapy are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Activities required of all faculty include:

• Exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student recruitment, and advising
• Professional attainment, including scholarship
• Service to the department, college, university, and community

Specific responsibilities for the Director of Clinical Education include:

• Managing the clinical education component of the DPT program
• Teaching doctoral-level physical therapy courses in areas related to clinical expertise and experience
• Directing student research projects and conducting research through the UMHB Human Performance and Motion Analysis Labs
• Providing patient care and supervising students in the pro bono Cru Community Clinic

Requirements

• Active and committed Christian who supports the University’s mission and participates in a local church
• Doctoral degree in physical therapy (PT) from a CAPTE-accredited program
• Minimum of three (3) years full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice in a physical therapy environment
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice as an SCCE or CI, or two (2) years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist education program
• Current and unencumbered Texas Physical Therapist license (or ability to meet requirements within 90 days of hire)

Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience in a physical therapist education program (desirable)
• ABPTS specialist certification (desirable)
• Excellent teaching and communication skills
• Dedication to professional attainment, engagement in professional organizations, and commitment to quality improvement
