Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Pediatrics

About the Role
Kentucky Children’s Hospital and the University of Kentucky are seeking a full-time board-eligible/board-certified clinical pediatric Nephrologist with a broad interest in academic medicine. The position focuses on clinical care and teaching, with ample opportunity for scholarly activities based on interest. The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative division of nephrology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding clinical, quality, and cost-effective care to children with renal diagnoses and diseases at Kentucky Children’s Hospital and the Kentucky Clinic.
- Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and the extended medical community.
- Engage in scholarly work in education, quality improvement, or clinical/translational research.
- Contribute to building and expanding the ESRD and renal transplant program.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, social work, and dieticians.
Requirements
- MD, DO, or MD/PhD (or equivalent).
- Completion of Pediatric Residency and Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology.
- Unrestricted Kentucky Medical License.
- Demonstrated record of excellent clinical service and teaching.
Division Overview
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Kentucky Children’s Hospital (KCH) offers a full range of nephrology services, including all modalities of dialysis: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, pheresis, and CRRT. The division operates one of two licensed pediatric hemodialysis units in the state, accredited for up to 8 patients, and holds continued UNOS accreditation for Pediatric Kidney Transplantation as part of a combined Pediatric and Adult Transplant program.
The division includes 2 full-time and 1 part-time nephrologist, supported by 3 clinical nurses (1 full-time, 2 part-time), a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, social work, a dietician, and a dietician/research faculty with a background in nutritional science.
The division is an active member of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium (PRNC) and participates in NIH-supported research, including CureGN, CKiD, GIGA, and others.
