About the Role

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida is seeking a tenure/non-tenure accruing position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor in Thoracic Surgery. The new hire will join a team of four thoracic surgeons at The University of Florida Shands Hospital, a comprehensive 1,000+ bed hospital. This role supports the Division’s growth in Lung Transplantation (on track for 72 transplants this year), Extracorporeal Life Support, and Thoracic Oncology (90% of resections performed minimally invasively, mostly robotic).

Responsibilities

  • Perform thoracic surgical procedures, including lung transplantation.
  • Contribute to the Division’s growth in Extracorporeal Life Support and Thoracic Oncology.
  • Participate in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries.

Requirements

  • MD degree or equivalent.
  • Board certified or eligible in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
  • Experience in lung transplantation is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Robotic surgical exposure.
  • Interest in esophageal disease.

Expected salary based upon experience and education.
