Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Organic Chemistry
About the role
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in synthetic organic chemistry at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The position seeks candidates who will establish an innovative, internationally recognized research program addressing critical challenges in drug discovery and human health through modern synthetic chemistry. Areas of interest include new synthetic methodologies, design and synthesis of novel therapeutics, and investigations of drug interactions and disease mechanisms, with particular encouragement for work complementing existing strengths in cancer and dementia. The appointment supports interdisciplinary research leveraging expertise across multiple departments and colleges, with collaboration opportunities with the UH Drug Discovery Institute, College of Pharmacy, the Multidisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience and Dementia, and other research centers.
Responsibilities
- Establish an externally funded experimental research program
- Teach undergraduate and graduate chemistry courses
- Mentor students and researchers
- Contribute to university service
- Collaborate with investigators affiliated with the UH Drug Discovery Institute, College of Pharmacy, the Multidisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience and Dementia, and other research centers
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry
- Postdoctoral or equivalent industrial or national-laboratory research experience preferred
