Assistant, Associate or full Professor of Law (Health and Aging)

About the Role

This position will serve as a tenure-track or tenured faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Law School. The faculty member will conduct research and teach classes in one or more of the following areas: health law, aging and the law, bioethics, disability law, privacy law, torts, employment and benefits law, trusts and estates, insurance law, public health law, administrative law, property and housing, family law, immigration, and environmental law, or other courses that bear on health, aging, and human flourishing.

As part of the role, the faculty member will engage in service to the Law School, the University, and the profession, and participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative, which addresses complex societal challenges through accelerated faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and increased student and educational opportunities. Candidates hired through RISE will join a community of scholars working across disciplines, schools, and colleges on research, teaching, and outreach endeavors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and teach classes in one or more of the following areas: health law, aging and the law, bioethics, disability law, privacy law, torts, employment and benefits law, trusts and estates, insurance law, public health law, administrative law, property and housing, family law, immigration, and environmental law, or other courses that bear on health, aging, and human flourishing.
• Engage in service of the type expected of faculty members, including participation in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges.

Requirements

• JD or equivalent degree required.
• Qualified applicants will have a record of outstanding scholarly achievement, or the potential for such achievement, in the study of law and the conditions that shape human health, well-being, and flourishing over the course of a life.
• This position is part of the University's campus-wide RISE-Thrive hiring priority focused on immunology, health span, and healthy aging. The successful candidate will be encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary research and collaboration across campus.
• Previous teaching experience is required to be hired at the associate or full professor levels.

Pay

Minimum 9-month salary of $150,000, but starting title and salary will be dependent upon prior experience, skills, and knowledge.
