Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Clinical X) Pediatric Hospitalists
About the role
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) seeks to hire pediatric hospitalists at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The successful candidates will provide clinical services in various settings, including day and night work on attending only, nurse practitioner, and/or resident services. They will also engage in clinical, translational, or basic science scholarly pursuits or research, participate in multi-center trials, and collaborate with successful UCSD researchers in areas such as microbiome and pharmacology, medical education, and quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services in various settings, including day and night work on attending only, nurse practitioner, and/or resident services.
- Serve at the Helen Bernardy Center for Fragile Children, the Juvenile Hall medical system, or the palliative care program.
- Engage in clinical, translational, or basic science scholarly pursuits or research.
- Participate in multi-center trials and collaborations with UCSD researchers.
- Lead in teaching, mentoring, providing care for a diverse, international population, and providing equitable care to all children and families.
Requirements
The successful candidates must have an MD or equivalent, or an MD/PhD in health-related fields, be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications: MD or equivalent, board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, California medical license or equivalent certification/permit.
- Preferred qualifications: At least 5 years of clinical experience in a tertiary care pediatric setting and scholarly activity.

Pay
The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $170,000- $255,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
