Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Clinical X, In-Residence, Adjunct) Otology
UC San Diego’s Department of Otolaryngology seeks otolaryngologists with a focus in otology to join its faculty. The selected candidates will participate in the tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education.
About the role
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Available series include:
- HS Clinical Professor (APM 278)
- Clinical X Professor (APM 275)
- In-Residence Professor (APM 270)
- Adjunct Professor (APM 280)
Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. If appointed to a title covered by the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent patient care in otology/neurotology
- Contribute to the department’s scholarly and research mission
- Engage in teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students
Requirements
- MD or equivalent degree
- Board eligible or board certified in otolaryngology
- Eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Completion of, or expected completion of, an otology/neurotology fellowship by the start date of the appointment
- Clinical experience in the care of patients with otologic/neurotologic disorders
- Training in all three approaches to the lateral skull base
- Completion of, or active pursuit of, a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Neurotology
- A record of scientific investigation and peer-reviewed publications
Pay
The pay range for this position is $235,000 – $675,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
