About the role

Boston College invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Director (AD) in Schools & Programs within the Office of University Advancement. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role serves as a project manager and content expert for a portfolio of schools and programs that comprise BC’s most prominent areas of research, teaching, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource to colleagues in Development, Stewardship, Communications, and the Alumni Association, providing verbal and written content and access to relevant university partners.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging across these functions, and ensure optimal service to, and partnership with, campus partners.
  • Play a key role in coordinating with Directors of Development, the Executive Director, and AVPs to maintain relationships with senior administrators.
  • Support and advance the BC School of Law, the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, and other academic initiatives to increase support and awareness for the schools’ and areas’ innovative programs, faculty, and student achievements, research, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Develop written content for various Advancement purposes, including proposals, appeals, reports, and correspondence.
  • Work with Prospect Research to help identify a pipeline of constituent and non-constituent prospects for the schools and programs in their areas of coverage.
  • Manage or collaborate on a small portfolio of prospects whose gifts are connected to their areas of content expertise, with potential for increasing responsibilities as they progress developmentally.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher, with 1-3 years of professional-level experience in higher education or a minimum of two years in a relatable fundraising area for the Assistant Director position.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a higher education setting, with particular emphasis on communications, stewardship, project management, and some frontline fundraising, for the first level Associate Director position.
  • 5+ years of experience in a higher educational setting, with particular emphasis on communications, stewardship, project management, and some frontline fundraising, for the second level Associate Director position.
