Assistant/Associate Adjunct Professor of Surgery – Violence Prevention Researcher
About the role
The Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a full-time innovative social researcher with expertise in the field of violence prevention and intervention.
Responsibilities
- Lead a research program dedicated to building the evidence for best practices in violence prevention and intervention.
- Be interested in leading multi-institutional work with colleagues in other hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) across the country.
- Join a vibrant team of public health professionals who work to address the root causes of violence by using a public health model through their work as a hospital-based violence intervention program (HVIP).
- Work as part of a leadership team that will continue to provide strategic direction for the HVIP and build on local and national partnerships.
- Be well-versed in qualitative research methodologies and work well in a team environment.
- Take on a mentorship role for learners looking to develop their own pursuits in violence intervention work.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree with a strong background in public health and social drivers of health.
- Recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students.

Benefits
This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
Pay
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $118,000 - $183,500.

The position is full-time.
