About the role
The Assistant Assembly Lead position is open to internal candidates only. A cover letter is required, detailing the applicant's interest and how they can contribute to the team. No resume is required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, efficiency, and delivery goals are met in the absence of the Assembly Team Lead.
- Operate according to Leader Standard Work (LSW) and take appropriate countermeasures when issues arise.
- Maintain and use Visual Controls and Daily Management Boards (DMB).
- Lead daily startups through Tier 1 meetings and monitor progress throughout shifts.
- Report daily to the Team at Tier 1 and to the Program Manager at Tier 2.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data for assigned project teams.
- Ensure projects are built in compliance with Nomad Quality Control (QC) requirements and documentation is complete.
- Operate with a Continuous Improvement mindset, reducing waste and supporting company objectives.
- Aid Program Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining production standards, SOPs, quality, and safety.
- Ensure Assembly Technician Teammates are cross-trained and meet specific training requirements.
- Perform all functions of an Assembly Technician, including flooring installation, plumbing, door and window installation, HVAC, cabinet and countertop making, electrical wiring, etc.
- Lead and direct the team in manufacturing projects, meeting key metrics: DLH, IDL, Time and Attendance, Production Rework, OT, efficiency, and safety targets.
- Be responsible for 5S, shop floor cleanliness, and clear connections to IC for kitting and parts queue.
- Coordinate with Program Manager, Production Supervisor, and other staff resources for appropriate staffing levels.
- Absorb responsibilities of the Assembly Team Lead during their absence.
- Assist in informal reviews of team members and performance management through observation and documentation.
- Read, understand, and apply Engineer CAD drawings.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrate ability to lead and work collaboratively with others.
- Show understanding of Nomad production processes, including raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs.
- Show understanding of mechanical concepts, including machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Show understanding of engineering and technology, including practical applications of these principles.
- Show understanding of building and construction, including materials, methods, and tools used in creating communication platforms.
- Show understanding of safety and security, including knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Show innovation, self-motivation, dependability, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to multiple priorities.
- Show strong PC skills and knowledge of E2, Excel, Word, etc.
- Show good communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Show understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED; higher education helpful.
- 1+ years of experience at Nomad GCS required.
- 3-5 years of manufacturing or construction management (or the equivalent of education and experience).
- Desired general electrical knowledge.
- Experience with inventory management systems and E2.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, or aptitude in Lean methodology.
- Ability to train and mentor other team members.
