About the role
The Assistant Aquatics Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of various aquatics programs, sports, and special events. This position requires excellent customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage and motivate staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement aquatics programs and special events
- Train and supervise lifeguards, instructors, and coaching staff
- Manage aquatics facility usage and ensure safety protocols are followed
- Coordinate with the American Red Cross for swimming lessons and other programs
- Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments
- Operate and maintain pool and fountain equipment
- Prepare and distribute relevant communications about aquatics programs
- Perform custodial duties and assist in maintenance tasks
Requirements
- Four-year college degree in recreation or a closely related field
- Two years of experience in aquatic facility management
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certifications
- Preferred certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor/Trainer, Water Safety Instructor Trainer
- Knowledge of pool chemistry, filtration systems, and OSHA/EID regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to perform rescue skills and lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license with a good driving record
- Working knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft software
- Experience with aquatic equipment and tools
- Background check required

$41,612.70 - $64,754.19 annually
