Assist Technologist

About the role

Provide intraoperative technical assistance in surgical settings, working closely with surgeons and the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with exposure, hemostasis, and wound closure during procedures
• Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies and equipment
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow aseptic techniques
• Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons as needed
• Support patient positioning, prepping, and draping
• Perform sponge, instrument, and needle counts accurately
• Monitor patient condition and communicate with the team
• Sterilize instruments post-procedure and document intraoperative activities
• Collaborate with surgical staff for smooth workflow

Qualifications & Skills

• At least 1 year of recent experience as a First Assist in a surgical setting
• Certification as a Surgical First Assistant (NBSTSA or NCCT)
• Current BLS certification
• Knowledge of surgical techniques and aseptic procedures
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure
