Assist Community Director

About the role
The Assistant Community Director assists the Community Director in managing all day-to-day operations pertaining to the community, residents, staff, and the needs of Michaels Management Services. This role carries out assigned duties professionally and performs additional tasks as requested by the Community Director. The Assistant Community Director assumes the responsibilities of the Community Director in their absence and must provide exceptional customer service at all times.
Responsibilities
- Train, direct, and oversee all office staff under direct supervision to ensure orderly and efficient workflow; understand and perform the duties of other office staff as needed.
- Develop strong working relationships with residents and handle all resident issues, complaints, requests, or concerns to ensure resolution prior to the Community Director’s involvement.
- Assist the Community Director in preparing the Annual Budget.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and completion prior to submission.
- Monitor, review, and approve all timesheets within the payroll system.
- Lead Quarterly Resident Meetings, providing updates and responding to resident issues with a positive approach.
- Work directly with the bookkeeper to ensure timely collection of rents and delinquent account balances; monitor the utility program; and adhere to all accounting directives within the established budget.
- Work with the Turn Supervisor to ensure vacant make-ready maintenance is scheduled and completed in a timely manner for incoming applicants.
- Review the monthly newsletter prior to the Community Director’s review and approval.
- Draft correspondence to residents and other representatives, subject to the Community Director’s approval.
- Fairly and consistently implement community policies as defined by the Resident Guidelines and Community Handbook, including notifying residents of violations and ensuring compliance.
- Ensure residents maintain homes to standards and perform health and safety inspections as needed.
- Assist the Community Director with devising and implementing marketing strategies to secure prospective residents.
- Serve as a liaison with various partners and provide pertinent data as requested in a timely manner.
- Represent the company professionally at all times and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a customer service-related industry, preferably multi-family property management. Military experience or prior exposure to the military is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must have or be able to obtain the designation of ARM® (Accredited Residential Manager) within one year.
- Must successfully complete all required courses, classes, and training provided by MMS.
- Must pass a background investigation and drug test screening.

Working Conditions
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Routine squatting, walking, and lifting of up to 50 lbs without assistance, with full range of motion.
- Must be able and eligible to drive a company vehicle.
Pay
$31.00 - $33.00 per hour.
