Starting pay range: $23.25 - $25.25 per hour. Full pay range: $23.25 - $39.50 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

In Assets Protection (AP), teams function to keep our guests, team, and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product availability for our guests. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement.
This role provides the opportunity to develop skills in:
- Leading a security culture, including crisis response, safety environment, and crowd management planning
- Implementing daily/weekly Assets Protection workload priorities
- Responding to external and internal theft incidents and preventing future theft
- Implementing strategic resolutions for external theft and fraud
- Partnering with and educating store business leaders on operational shortage priorities
- Leading a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience
- Ensure every team member understands, is trained on, and delivers Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations
- Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, improve execution, and align the team on behaviors that drive results
- Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests
- Welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor
- Influence and validate physical security and safety processes; participate in store response and emergency crisis situations
- Support your leader in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures
- Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise
- Anticipate staffing needs and support talent planning around a culture of accountability
- Identify theft and shortage trends in your store and support leaders in developing tactics to reduce shortage
- Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs based on security and theft patterns (including early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts)
- Own the prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including conducting apprehensions while adhering to policy
- Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by leadership
- Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices and audit execution
- Implement operational changes as directed by leadership
- Order merchandise protection devices as needed and manage the allocated budget
- Communicate AP priorities to the team, peers, and leadership
- Maintain relationships with district and store leaders, as well as law enforcement
- Ensure tactics maintain Target’s reputation
- Collaborate with retail partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions
- Support team onboarding, learning, and closing knowledge gaps through training
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct and compliance
- Maintain all required training and serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents
- Lead and demonstrate a culture of safety, including modeling and recognizing safe behaviors
- Execute safety program management routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations
- Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests
- Model the execution of physical security processes to enhance in-store security culture
- Address store needs during emergencies or regulatory visits
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
- Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Welcoming and helpful attitude with effective communication skills
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information
- Climb up and down ladders
- Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
- Work a flexible schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance
- Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
Although the role is full-time, it does not come with a guarantee of 40 hours each week. Hours will depend on the needs of the business and may fluctuate as required.
