ASSET PROTECTION/SAFETY SUPV ($126+ M) (FULL-TIME w/BENEFITS) -MAIN STORE

U.S. Citizenship Required. A total of 4 years of experience is required, consisting of the following:

General Experience

• 3 years of experience in administrative investigative or loss prevention fields, developing skills in interpersonal work relationships and exercising mature judgment.

OR

Substitution of Education for Experience

• 1 year of related academic study above the high school level may substitute for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of a four-year bachelor’s degree for three years of general experience.

Specialized Experience

• 1 year of responsible experience in retail loss prevention, including analytical planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work in security investigations, internal review and control techniques, and reducing/controlling inventory shrink.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Asset Protection/Safety Manager in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating AP programs, including Safety, Physical Security, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP), and Operational Review functions.
• Recommends and assists in implementing modifications to programs, procedures, standards, and techniques related to AP, safety, and Total Loss to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Drives, assigns, and assists with theft investigations, suspected unethical conduct, accident investigations, workplace violence, or other assigned tasks, ensuring compliance with departmental investigative policies and protocols. This may include oversight of overnight surveillance, covert camera installations, investigations, and interviews of associates, vendors, and contractors.
• Prepares and ensures professional documentation of investigation results according to departmental standards.
• Serves as a collateral duty safety supervisor to provide a safe and secure environment for associates and patrons.
• Assists in administering the Navy Occupational Safety and Health and Fire Prevention Program to ensure adherence to applicable Department of Navy codes and standards.
• Ensures implementation of safety training, MHE training, APS awareness programs, Safety Committees, Risk Management Information (RMI), and other APS programs in assigned locations.
• Assists in developing and supervising asset protection/safety staff, ensuring adherence to established APS policies and procedures.
• Prepares and assigns work, provides training, reviews work, resolves complaints/grievances, approves/disapproves leave, prepares performance reviews, and recommends disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Determines staffing needs within budget, justifies overtime, and prepares staffing justifications.
• Assists in developing shrink committees and shrink action plans to identify causes of inventory shrink and execute internal control measures.
• Manages physical security programs (CCTV, EAS, Alarms, and key control systems) to ensure strict enforcement.
• Participates in fiscal year-end store inventories, including preparation, execution, reconciliation, and reporting of irregularities.
• Uses web-based case management reporting systems and ensures APS staff are trained and utilizing the software effectively.
• Uses Point of Sale (POS) exception-based reporting tools and ensures staff are trained to detect, investigate, and resolve issues.
• Actively participates in the personal and professional development of APS staff through in-store/corporate training, industry-standard professional training, and collegiate courses in retail, business, safety, and asset protection.
• Develops strong relationships and communication skills at all organizational levels, including Corporate, District, Store Operations, and APS industry professionals.
• Builds relationships with command, base, federal, and local law enforcement officials.
• Supports all AP initiatives as assigned and works within the framework of AP mission, vision, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Obtains and maintains a Secret DOD Security Clearance within 6 months of appointment (failure to obtain will result in termination).
• Performs physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs (or over 50 lbs with assistance), bending, twisting, stooping, climbing stairways (up to 20 ft), and climbing ladders.
• Operates equipment such as pallet jacks (moving materials up to 500 lbs), handheld scanners, and maneuvers around heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, turret trucks, 18-wheelers).
• Works in environments with extreme seasonal temperature fluctuations, potential Haz-Mat issues, and requires walking on hard surfaces for 2–3 hours daily (or more as needed).
• Wears protective clothing and shoes as required for job functions.
• Assists in Personnel Security Investigations, Background Checks, SAAR Forms, and fingerprinting as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
