Asset Protection Officer
About the role
To maintain a safe and secure environment that protects both the assets within the warehouse and the personnel working there by executing the following responsibilities in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Scan employees entering and exiting the Distribution Center on the Receiving side, including checking bags, monitoring the metal detector, and hand scanning anyone who activates the metal detector.
- Coordinate daily delivery appointments list with Birdseye, the gate operations company, and the NTE unloader(s); direct incoming delivery trucks to park at a particular dock door or on the yard and interface with drivers for correct completion of paperwork.
- Coordinate with supervisors, loaders, and unloaders to communicate trailer moves to the switcher and record all LPO-called moves onto a log sheet for archival.
- Ensure all drivers delivering trailers to dock doors have chocked their tires, disconnected, and pulled away from their trailers before an unloader is permitted to enter the trailer; then call the driver to advise when the trailer is ready.
- Patrol and observe the entire facility and all operations inside and around, monitoring truck traffic into and out of the facility and all vehicles parked at dock doors and on the yard.
- Patrol the interior of the DC, vigilant for open doors, safety and loss prevention issues, as well as logistical issues related to loads coming and going.
- Assist and provide short breaks to other officers by being functionally familiar with all other posts.
- Maintain current, accurate records of trailers on the premises with a yard check at least once per shift and a door report completed at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Unlock the Will Call entry gate every morning, respond to open the gate to admit each Will Call customer, assist to expedite the delivery of Will Call items, and lock the gate each evening.
- Serve as a Point of Contact with emergency services (police, fire, and ambulance) by calling 911, ensuring gates are opened if necessary, and providing directions or other assistance.
- Monitor video feed from cameras inside and outside the DC for irregularities and investigate if necessary.
- Receive Bills of Lading (BOLs) from the Retail supervisor, keep a running record of BOLs on-hand, coordinate drivers’ lists with carriers, and handle paperwork and instructions for drivers picking up loads.
- Meet with incoming Will Call customers, copy their receipts and IDs, interface with the Will Call clerk retrieving the product, then pass the product on to the customer.
- Serve as a quasi dispatcher for the DC, calling the switcher, maintenance, and other LPOs on the radio or paging DC personnel for specific purposes.
- Complete incident reports, track yard checks and door reports, and (2nd Shift) coordinate at closing with the Rover LPO to ensure all doors and gates are locked before leaving.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior law enforcement or military experience highly preferred.
- No prior criminal history.
- Thorough knowledge of Company policies and procedures as they relate to network setup and administration.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, write, and test programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, Company personnel, and others.
