What You Will Do

GFT is seeking an Asset Management and Maintenance Technician (AMM Tech) to join our Transportation Team in Charlotte, Raleigh and Asheville offices!

This role follows an onsite work model, requiring regular attendance at our listed offices.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

  • Assist both public and private agencies with various asset management activities.
  • Perform pavement condition assessments, storm drainage assessments, maintenance inspections, response to natural disasters, and other tasks for our project partners.
  • Lead and manage projects.
  • Have experience with NCDOT Operations & Maintenance procedures.
  • Read and understand NCDOT maintenance contracts and interpret for project team.
  • Answer inquiries and complaints from Project Manager.
  • Be a good communicator and able to resolve solutions in the field with personnel, contractors, municipalities, and the general public.
  • Successfully use tools of the trade needed for the specific project(s) and have the ability to train subordinates in their use.
  • Obtain accurate measurements, report project progress information, and document in an Inspector's Daily Report (IDR).
  • Identify problems to the contractor and project manager, and keep project manager informed of progress of project.
  • Follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis.
  • Possess basic math skills to compute quantities and costs.
  • Interpret and implement company mandated safety policies.
  • Lead safety meetings on a regular basis.
  • Operate a level and have an understanding of cut and fills and elevations for highway grades.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
  • Attend meetings as needed related to operations projects.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds daily.
  • Traverse uneven terrain.
  • Operate computer and tablet.

Working Conditions

  • Work in outdoor environment 95% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Travel via automobile on daily basis.

Education | Experience

  • For Technician Levels III and IV: Two (2) year technical degree with Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with two (2) years of progressive transportation/construction technician experience, or high school diploma and four (4) years of transportation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
  • For Technician Levels I and II: High School Diploma and one (1) years’ experience in a related field.

Compensation

  • Technician Level I-II: $23.00-35.00 per hour
  • Technician Level III-IV: $27.00-$44.00 per hour
  • Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
