About the role

The Delaware County Juvenile Court is seeking a full-time Assessment Center Specialist to screen and evaluate youth who are alleged to have committed an offense or are at-risk, provide crisis intervention services, and link them to community resources to divert youth from formal court involvement. This role also includes case oversight during service linkage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development, education, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience working with at-risk youth is preferred.
  • Ability to apply assessment skills to formulate goals and intervention plans.
  • Ability to be objective and facilitate resolution in stressful or explosive situations.
  • Comfortable working in non-traditional environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with co-workers, county agencies, and service providers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, child development, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of the Juvenile Court Judicial System, terminology, procedures, and county personnel policies.
  • Ability to plan effectively both independently and collaboratively with staff, departments, and outside agencies.
  • Clean criminal record and valid Ohio Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, case management, and family linkage to community and social service providers to divert youth from formal court involvement and detention.
  • Develop individualized plans with clients and family members to address their needs.
  • Conduct assessments and screenings with youth.
  • Promote appropriate discipline, conflict resolution, and parenting skills.
  • Monitor and follow up on assigned cases.
  • Serve on planning and developmental committees as directed.
  • Receive and respond to calls from law enforcement, including outside normal business hours and on weekends.
  • Maintain data via a computer case management system.
  • Comply with all documentation, supervision, and training requirements for the program.
  • Prepare data, report outcomes, and document ongoing program statistics.
