About the role
The Assembly Technician I position at Corning involves building and testing precision optical systems and sub-assemblies in a cleanroom environment. Tasks include prepping and assembling components, performing detailed tests, and ensuring quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Build: Hands-on assembly of components into housings.
- Get Creative: Tasks such as painting, priming, cleaning, and surface preparation.
- Follow the Map: Using routers, drawings, and written procedures to create flawless assemblies.
- Perfect the Details: Aligning systems and assemblies to exact specifications using advanced technology like interferometry and open optical testing.
- Document: Processing and recording test results with minimal supervision.
- Finish Strong: Preparing finished assemblies for shipment and reviewing with a supervisor or tech III.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of hands-on industrial experience, preferably with blueprint knowledge.
- Experience setting up and running basic optical tests without supervision is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Incredible attention to detail with a passion for delivering top-quality work.
- Ability to collect and submit data accurately for QA review.
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in assembly work.
- Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of DMAIC yellow belt training is a plus.

Pay
The range for this position is $22.00 hourly rate - $28.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

Monday – Thursday, 4:00 AM – 3:30 PM
