About the role
The role of Assembly Operator - Mechanical Production Technician directly supports the company's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. This position plays a key role in building the structural and mechanical components of wind turbines, including the nacelle (Machine House), hubs, and drive trains.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components of wind turbines using hand tools, power tools, and overhead cranes.
- Follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to ensure accurate builds.
- Perform torquing, alignment, and fit-up of large components such as gearboxes, bearings, and shafts.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work area to present work related injuries.
- Exceed production benchmarks by completing specific tasks within the designated timeframe, playing a key role in the collective success of our team objectives.
- Handle materials by lifting, positioning, and/or removing them from the work area as needed.
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to improve assembly processes.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support other production areas as needed and as assigned by the supervisor.
- In coordination with PQA and Engineering Departments, conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of potential production problems.
- Assist electrical assembly operators as required.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical certifications or technical training.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or heavy manufacturing.
- Ability to read work instructions.
- Experience in wind turbine, automotive, or industrial equipment assembly.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Commitment to maintaining and promoting safety standards at all times.
- Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test (as Required).
- Working at heights.
- Understanding of ISO 9000:2000 Quality System is a plus.
Skills
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical documentation.
- Experience with overhead crane operation.
- Proficiency in using torque tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and measuring instruments.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
