About the role
The Assembly Lead at AGI is responsible for performing skilled operations to support lean production of assembly line components. This role involves collaborating with the Branch Manager to set and execute short and long-term goals, managing workflow processes, and ensuring production goals and quality guidelines are met.
Responsibilities
- Reads and follows plans, material lists, guidelines, and established timelines.
- Assembles and measures products according to tolerances/specifications.
- Consults appropriate parties when variances occur.
- Fulfills all regular and advanced production duties in a timely manner, adhering to company policy and procedures.
- Performs assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools.
- Operates both stationary and moving overhead cranes.
- Operates forklift as required.
- Receives materials, moves materials, and prepares shipment of materials to support the product delivery process.
- Clean, assemble, disassemble, and replace parts as required.
- Partners with leaders on workload, obstacles, and progress related to work assignments.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Troubleshoots equipment and makes necessary repairs.
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Assists the Branch Manager in documenting and enforcing such company policies and procedures.
- Verifies and confirms the components or materials supplied to the assembly line are accurate and correct, in order to produce the intended finished product.
- Assists Branch Manager with quality control of all assembled products, including fit and finish techniques.
- Provides Branch Manager with updates regarding assembly line status, workload, issues, and progress of work assignments.
- Provides continuous improvement recommendations/initiatives to ensure the most effective and efficient levels of productivity.
- Maintains the stock levels of all required shop supplies.
- Troubleshoots equipment and makes necessary repairs.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent professional experience required.
- 2-3 years manufacturing or farm machinery assembly experience required.
- 1-3 years in a leadership role preferred.
- 1-3 years forklift experience preferred.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Tape Measure and units of measurement.
- Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
