Assembler/Production Technician (Weekend Day Shift)

Janicki is a private, family-owned business based in Washington State with a facility in Layton, Utah. The Layton facility specializes in machining large, complex structures from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. Parts produced are installed on advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. The role offers opportunities to drive continuous improvements on long-term production programs or tackle new projects in rapid development.

About the role

This position is for a Production Technician on the Weekend Day Shift, with hours from 5:30 am to 6:00 pm, Friday through Sunday. A $3.00 shift differential is provided for the weekend shift.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow pass downs, work orders, isometric drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and other technical and non-technical documents.
• Assemble and fit aircraft structural parts and sub-assemblies.
• Perform test fits and gap checks with high tolerances.
• Perform countersinking activities.
• Prepare structural adhesive bonding per product specifications and compliance programs.
• Align, fit, assemble, connect, or install system components using jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments, hand tools, or power tools.
• Adjust, repair, rework, or replace parts and assemblies.
• Layout and mark reference points.
• Receive and carry out directions from designated supervisor or lead.
• Participate in training, safety, and quality programs.
• Keep work orders stamped, dated, and organized.
• Perform vacuum bagging to prepare parts for drop tests, de-bulking fabric, and infusion.
• Perform tabbing operations to work order specifications.
• General sanding and finish work using grinders and sandpaper as needed.
• Identify and obtain equipment, tools, and materials needed to perform job functions.
• Follow Janicki Industries Rules and Safety Practices; maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow 5S, AS9100, and Nadcap standards and practices in all work performed.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and FOD-free condition.
• Package and crate parts for shipment, including shrink wrapping.
• Use common hand tools for assembly components per verbal, written, and drawing requirements.
• Work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality; this is a condition of employment and an essential function of the job.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Due to ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a)(3).
• High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement).
• Three years of professional assembly experience in complex assembly and aircraft frame assembly/maintenance preferred.
• Prior experience in composite or fiberglass fabrication and repair is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, written procedures, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Pay

Wage range for this role is between $22 - $45 per hour, plus a discretionary bonus. Additional pay is available for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
