Assembler I - Sheet Metal Worker

About the role

Assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal products, parts and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assembles units, exhaust fans, house doors, damper hoods and makes pan rings according to job orders
• Smooths burred surfaces with files and grinders
• Lay and attach metal or wood flooring and/or covering
• Apply primer, paint, and caulk as needed
• Perform close-up requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience and/or training
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Knowledge and understanding of metal types and gauging
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
