About the role
Assembler I, Optics working 1st Shift Monday–Thursday, 0500–1530 in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, optical lens, and electronic assembly tasks.
- Follow all safety protocols and detailed work instructions.
- Operate torque tools, electric drivers, hand tools, and specialized optical equipment.
- Maintain high quality workmanship and adhere to lean manufacturing guidelines.
- Keep a clean workspace and follow 6S standards.
- Solder and perform related electronic assembly processes.
- Identify and correct lens debris, digs, or other aberrations; discern micron-size debris.
- Conduct quality inspections and recognize workmanship defects.
- Operate robotic equipment and adhesive dispensers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Optical mechanical assembly experience preferred; optics handling and cleaning a plus.
- Ability to solder; soldering certifications a plus.
- English reading and writing skills sufficient to follow written directions.
- Proficient in basic math and computer navigation; ERP system interface a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Willingness to be trained and cross-trained on multiple detailed assemblies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and possess a strong work ethic.
Working Conditions
- Primarily standing (90%+ of shift) except during breaks.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 lbs.
- Regular repetitive tasks, stooping/squatting, walking, stair climbing, and reaching.
- Frequent bending, kneeling (at least 50% of shift), and repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE and comply with EH&S and security mandates.
