About the role
This is the first of three levels of assembler (entry-level). The role involves highly repetitive, simple short-cycle mechanical or electrical assembly of assemblies and sub-assemblies. You will follow prescribed routines with basic supervision, assemble parts and devices to support production needs, and require the ability to follow written instructions and basic prints.
Responsibilities
- Work from blueprints and work instructions to assemble parts into higher-level assemblies.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE.
- Maintain proper records in accordance with the plant management system.
- Keep work area clean and organized to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
- Perform checks using gauges and fixtures to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Demonstrate positive relations and teamwork as outlined in the IMI Way and Leadership Blueprint.
- Report any drawing or instruction discrepancies to the Area Lead/Supervisor during assembly.
- Use and maintain basic shop tools safely (drill press, sandblasting, grinders, de-burring, and hand tools).
- Perform manufacturing operations, including Press Operation, Sizing, Notching, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Achieve quality goals, improve quality standards, and correct defective workmanship immediately.
- Maintain high accuracy during assembly to ensure high-quality products.
- Perform soldering and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read basic blueprints.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to learn the use of measuring devices and basic machine tools (e.g., drill press, grinders, sanders, saws).
- Basic computer skills.
