Assembler
About the role
The role is located on the production shop floor, in multiple buildings, and may require working outside in various weather conditions. It involves inspecting parts, assembling cranes and sub-assemblies, operating and checking sub-assemblies, and performing various duties as directed by supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Read and interpret blueprints, tape measures, and other measuring devices.
- Successfully complete all safety training required by time constraints set by governmental regulations.
- Inspect parts for proper form, fit, and function.
- Assemble cranes and crane sub-assemblies for standard products in support of and meeting production schedules.
- Ensure bearings, seals, and hydraulics fit and operate according to specifications.
- Operate and check sub-assemblies.
- Absorb and assist in maintaining the flow of work through department.
- Ensure production specifications and quality standards are met at all levels of assembly.
- Specialize in one specific area and be fully proficient in it, and may be assigned to other final assembly functions as directed by supervisor.
- Work from shop orders, specifications, and other data or instructions to perform assigned operations.
- Perform varied duties involving connection, adjustment, and replacement of hydraulic controls, pumps, rams, solenoids, valves, gauges, piping, hoses, and other system elements; installation and connection of air vacuum tanks, hoses, tubing, and other system components; mounting, hookup, and connection of engines, gear boxes, axles, and other power components and units.
- Record logbook entries and maintain records for log and critical data, serial numbers, models, brands, and other pertinent information.
- Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Repair or replace defective materials as required.
- Perform and verify torque operations; record in log.
- Perform other duties as determined by supervision.
Requirements
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, and read tape measures and other measuring devices.
- Must be able to successfully complete all safety training required by time constraints set by governmental regulations.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred or technical/vocational school diploma.
- 3 years assembly experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Qualifications
- Computer experience using a laptop to download programs, set parameters, and delete error codes.
- Certified in the charging and leak detection of A/C systems (preferred).

Skills
Skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, using measuring devices, and performing assembly tasks are essential. Proficiency in operating and checking sub-assemblies, along with the ability to detect and report defects, are also required.
