About the Role

Under limited supervision with general instruction for new work or special assignments, this position performs a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequences of operations in performing tasks such as wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains electrical wiring systems and harnesses by following blueprints and schematics.
  • Performs assembly of electronic equipment such as cables, harnesses, chassis, and printed circuit boards, or mechanical assembly of panels, LRUs, batteries, and servo motors.
  • Disassembles, modifies, reworks, and reassembles assemblies or subassemblies.
  • Repairs wiring assemblies and solders electronic components to meet IPC610 Class 3 requirements.
  • Builds various cables that meet IPC620 Class 3 requirements.
  • Comprehends assembly drawings and written instructions.
  • Obtains measurements using tools such as measuring tapes, scales, calipers, etc.
  • Crimps terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling.
  • Labels assemblies in accordance with drawing specifications.
  • Performs complex but repetitive tasks in preparation for electronic and/or mechanical assembly.
  • Uses basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun.
  • Performs 5S housekeeping and cleanup duties upon completion of assigned tasks.
  • Works overtime and weekends as needed to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Observes all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Works safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Travels as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with five or more years of experience.
  • Dexterity, attention to detail, and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read technical documents, engineering drawings, wire lists, and BOMs.
  • Familiarity with crimp, soldering, and compression connection tools.
  • Good visual perception and ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Capability to perform complex assignments with little or no direction.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Skills

  • Familiarity with multimeters, milliohm meters, and power supplies (preferred).
  • Certification in IPC610 and IPC620 (preferred).
  • Experience in material potting (preferred).
  • Ability to work with fiber optic cables and RF cables (preferred).

Pay

Hourly salary range: $48,160 – $71,598
