About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Charlottesville, Virginia machining and fabrication department is seeking an Assembler 2 for the hydraulic cell. The position involves detailed production assembly of electronic and mechanical components such as control modules, panels, piping, hoses, valves, and pump/motor installations, with a focus on hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly specific to hydraulic systems.
• Work from operation sheets, diagrams, blueprints, and drawings.
• Use hand and/or power tools.
• Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
• Regularly clean machines, related equipment, and work areas.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Obtain/maintain workmanship certifications.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and alternate work instructions for execution.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 40 lb.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hydraulic component assembly experience.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic system performance and testing.
• Experience with SAP.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Internet, E‑mail, and other MS Office applications.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $37,400 – $62,400 per year. Base salary is determined by factors such as scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for senior positions, long‑term incentives.

Schedule

• Standard shift with potential for 9/80 work schedule where available.
• Travel up to 10 % of the time.
