Assay Technician

About the role

Assay Technician in a manufacturing laboratory, responsible for analyzing precious metal samples to determine gold content and supporting quality control standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire assay and XRF analysis on various samples, including production alloys and customer scrap.
• Prepare samples, log and track samples in laboratory databases, and conduct quality control checks.
• Handle chemicals safely, operate high-temperature furnaces and laboratory equipment, and maintain lab tools.
• Support lab operations through inventory management and organization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of lab, manufacturing, or technical experience.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and analytical processes.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or coursework in chemistry or materials science.
• Experience with fire assay, XRF, and laboratory databases.

Work Environment

Laboratory setting involving exposure to high temperatures and chemicals, requiring standing, delicate sample handling, and use of PPE.
