Asphalt Plant Operator - Hampton

About the role

The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for operating an asphalt plant to batch, crush, and segregate materials used in construction. The role involves assisting with the assembly, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Moves controls to heat, dry, mix ingredients to produce asphalt paving materials.
• Controls weighing, feeding, crushing, and sifting machinery.
• Observes gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Uses basic knowledge of computers in plant operation.
• Performs basic mechanical tasks to assist with plant maintenance.
• Oils, greases, services, and makes normal operating adjustments to equipment.
• Maintains yard areas.
• Travels to and from different plants.
• Maintains awareness of site activities.
• Fulfills all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous construction, manufacturing, or plant operator experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Requires motions such as stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• May involve prolonged periods of standing or walking.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Overtime work may be required.
• Valid driver's license required for transportation to and from job sites.
