Asphalt Plant Operator - Suffolk

About the role

The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for operating an asphalt plant to batch, crush, and segregate materials used in construction. The role involves assisting with assembling, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing plant equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Move controls to heat, dry, mix ingredients to produce asphalt paving materials.
• Control weighing, feeding, crushing, and sifting machinery.
• Observe gauges, dials, and machinery operation to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Use basic computer skills in plant operations.
• Repair and make adjustments to machinery as needed.
• Use various hand tools.
• Aid ground workers and heavy equipment operators when necessary.
• Show basic mechanical skills to assist with plant maintenance.
• Oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of the yard and inside the plant.
• Travel to and from different plants.
• Monitor site activities.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED.
• Previous Construction / Manufacturing / Plant Operator experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• Potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Overtime work is required.
• Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
