Asphalt Plant Operator for Mobile Asphalt Operations

Western Engineering Co. Inc. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Portable Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team. This position supports mobile asphalt plant operations throughout Iowa and Nebraska, playing a critical role in producing high-quality asphalt for road construction projects.

As a Portable Asphalt Plant Operator, you will operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment while ensuring production meets project specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor portable asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production
• Control and adjust plant operations to produce asphalt that meets project specifications and quality standards
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of plant equipment
• Identify mechanical or operational issues and communicate problems to the foreman
• Coordinate closely with paving crews, truck drivers, and Project Managers to maintain proper production and delivery schedules
• Monitor aggregate, liquid asphalt, and other material usage to minimize waste and maintain efficient production
• Maintain accurate production, material, maintenance, and equipment records
• Assist with plant setup, tear-down, relocation, and startup of portable plant operations
• Follow all company policies, OSHA requirements, and safety procedures
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and equipment inspections
• Perform other duties related to asphalt plant operations as needed

Requirements

• Previous experience in asphalt production or as an asphalt plant operator is highly desirable
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate heavy equipment
• Knowledge of asphalt production processes, safety regulations, and quality control
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different job sites in Iowa and Nebraska
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training or certifications are a plus
• Pass pre-employment drug screening
