Asphalt Plant Operator

About the Role

This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt production facility, ensuring the proper mixing and supply of asphalt materials to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure proper production and quality of asphalt materials.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring all components function efficiently. Identify and report mechanical issues for timely repairs.
• Monitor material specifications, temperature, and mix design to meet required standards. Conduct routine checks and adjustments to maintain product consistency.
• Oversee raw material levels, ensuring adequate stock for continuous operations. Coordinate with suppliers for material deliveries as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of plant operations, production quantities, material usage, and any maintenance activities.
• Work closely with supervisors, truck drivers, and paving crews to ensure timely and efficient asphalt delivery.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating an asphalt plant or similar heavy equipment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
• Essential functions include standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
