Asphalt Plant Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt plant – automated drum and batch plant systems, using computer controls and control boards.
• Communicate with quality control personnel to ensure specifications are met, adjusting mix formulas and production as needed.
• Monitor plant status, adjust operations, load material onto dump trucks, and dispatch trucks.
• Coordinate with internal paving crews, project teams, and external customers to maximize profits, minimize waste, and maintain or improve quality.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through quality output and responsive service.
• Maintain optimal plant performance to avoid downtime and support customer satisfaction.
• Promote a safe working environment; participate in safety discussions and uphold the company’s safety vision.
• Schedule production needs for the next day and adjust the current day’s schedule as required.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and reporting.
• Plan the following day’s production and order raw materials.
• Assist in preventative maintenance, scheduled repairs, and breakdown repairs; focus on eliminating downtime and providing innovative solutions.
• Conduct winter maintenance repairs on the plant.
• Operate equipment as needed, including CAT 980 or 966 loaders to feed raw materials, as well as manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, and forklifts, after training and evaluation.
• Perform pre‑shift equipment inspections and help maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic mechanical skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Experience with mobile or stationary equipment is beneficial.
• Experience in manufacturing or construction industries is a plus.
• Physical demands can range from light to heavy labor.
• Work environment includes control tower, outdoor industrial areas, and interior of mobile or stationary equipment where PPE, monitoring systems, and safety precautions are required.

Pay

Hourly Range: $31.00 – $35.00, based on experience.
