Asphalt Plant Laborer- Mobile, AL

About the role

Working with government agencies, private contractors, counties and municipalities, APAC-AL, Inc. produces millions of tons of quality construction materials and paves many miles of highways every year. The position involves performing a wide range of general laboring duties at an asphalt plant, including but not limited to: shoveling, raking, traffic control, moving materials, setting forms, strips and cleans concrete forms, pours concrete, shovels, vibrates, and maintaining good housekeeping and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Repetitively lift up to 30 pounds
• Walk, stoop, squat, sit, kneel
• Maintain reliable attendance and meet company standards
• Pass required physical examination
• Use basic tools and understand their uses
• Perform basic mathematical and measurement skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)
• Assist on a heavy highway crew or a production crew
• Set up and clean concrete forms
• Pour concrete
• Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to safety regulations

Requirements

• Absolutely must be able to repetitively lift up to 30 pounds
• Must have one year of verifiable work experience in road construction, quarry, or Asphalt Plant
• Must pass a required physical examination
• Must have knowledge of basic tools and their uses
• Must have basic mathematical and measurement skills
• Must maintain reliable attendance and meet company standards
• Must have a positive attitude

Qualifications

Must be able to repetitively lift up to 30 pounds, walk, stoop, squat, sit, kneel and be capable of passing required physical examination. Knowledge of basic tools and their uses, basic mathematical and measurement skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication) are also required. One year of verifiable work experience preferred in road construction, quarry or Asphalt Plant. Maintain reliable attendance, meeting company standards, and maintain a positive attitude.
