This hands-on role is responsible for producing smooth, consistent asphalt surfaces through precise screed operation and coordination with the paving crew. Key Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt pavers or screeds to achieve proper grade, slope, depth, and smoothness.
- Adjust paver or screed controls to meet project specifications and surface requirements.
- Work closely with the paver or screed operators, foreman, and paving crew to maintain consistent asphalt flow.
- Maintain a respectful, team-oriented, and safety-focused work environment.
- Monitor mat quality and make real-time adjustments as needed.
- Perform daily inspections and basic preventative maintenance on screed equipment.
- Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety procedures.
- Work flexible hours, including daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts as required by project schedules.
Qualifications
- Prior experience operating asphalt screeds and/or paving machines required.
- Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes, grades, and tolerances.
- Ability to read and follow project plans and specifications.
- CDL Class A license preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and extended hours when needed.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to safety.

Schedule
Full-Time
Monday–Friday with potential for overtime
Night and weekend shifts as needed
Location
Based in Sherwood, OR
Projects throughout the Portland metro area
Travel required to and from job sites
