This hands-on role is responsible for producing smooth, consistent asphalt surfaces through precise screed operation and coordination with the paving crew. Key Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt pavers or screeds to achieve proper grade, slope, depth, and smoothness.
• Adjust paver or screed controls to meet project specifications and surface requirements.
• Work closely with the paver or screed operators, foreman, and paving crew to maintain consistent asphalt flow.
• Maintain a respectful, team-oriented, and safety-focused work environment.
• Monitor mat quality and make real-time adjustments as needed.
• Perform daily inspections and basic preventative maintenance on screed equipment.
• Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Follow all DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety procedures.
• Work flexible hours, including daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts as required by project schedules.

Qualifications

• Prior experience operating asphalt screeds and/or paving machines required.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes, grades, and tolerances.
• Ability to read and follow project plans and specifications.
• CDL Class A license preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and extended hours when needed.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to safety.

Schedule

Full-Time
Monday–Friday with potential for overtime
Night and weekend shifts as needed

Based in Sherwood, OR
Projects throughout the Portland metro area
Travel required to and from job sites
