Asphalt Milling Operator

About the role

We are seeking an Asphalt Milling Operator to execute precise surface removal on commercial and roadway projects, including parking lots and site development.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy asphalt milling machines safely and efficiently, adjusting controls to meet project specifications.
• Perform pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment safety and readiness.
• Coordinate with ground crew and field foreman to optimize material removal and loading.
• Monitor milling patterns to prevent pavement defects and utility damage.
• Maintain situational awareness of personnel, traffic, and hazards at the job site.
• Accurately document daily logs and inspection reports to support operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating asphalt milling machines, preferably Caterpillar or Wirtgen.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to read grade stakes, plans, and work orders.
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds outdoors.
• Flexibility to travel overnight up to 20% for out-of-area projects.
• Preferred: CDL, mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with automated grade control systems.
