Asphalt Laborer – Libs Paving

About the Role

A skilled Asphalt Laborer-Lute Rake performs detailed, quality, and consistent assignments in lute rake operations. This role involves distributing hot asphalt and binder evenly over surfaces, ensuring proper thickness, grade, and contour. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.

Responsibilities

• Follow direction from Libs Paving Management, Superintendents, Foremen, or Equipment Operators.
• Rake asphalt to proper grade and finish before compaction.
• Match and finish freshly made asphalt paving joints.
• Smooth and adjust surface irregularities in asphalt to restore surface finish.
• Assist the screed operator with maintaining grade and screed extensions.
• Operate rake/lute, blower, saw, weed eater, and compactor plate safely and efficiently to prepare job sites.
• Communicate effectively with team members and act as a Flagger to direct motorists away from work zones as needed.
• Ensure site safety by installing barricades and adhering to all safety rules in the Libs Paving Safety Program.
• Follow proper daily checklist and inspection procedures for company vehicles and maintain cleanliness of truck interiors.

Requirements

• Prior experience operating an asphalt rake/lute on construction projects (mandatory).
• Valid driver’s license preferred with a safe driving record.
• Must pass a drug test and maintain a valid COATS card.
• Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Construction industry experience, knowledge, or training preferred.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and humidity.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
