ASN Chairperson - Cresson

About the role

The ASN Chairperson reports to the Dean of Nursing and oversees the Associate of Science in Nursing program based in Cresson, PA. This position ensures the program’s curriculum and outcomes align with ACEN and PA State Board of Nursing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure curriculum and outcomes align with ACEN and PA State Board of Nursing guidelines
• Model good instruction, develop quality course syllabi, establish policies and procedures
• Assist others within the ASN program with these matters
• Teach 24 credits or equivalent per academic year
• Supervise full-time and part-time faculty
• Lead departmental initiatives, recruit and mentor adjunct faculty
• Assure courses are properly resourced with appropriate academic quality and rigor
• Participate in department meetings, committee work, advise students academically, hold regular office hours, assist with College events, and serve as a role model for students

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required
• Doctorate preferred (PhD, DNP, EdD) earned or in final semester/ABD with pending graduation date
• Two to three years of leadership experience in nursing education administration required
• Prior classroom and clinical teaching experience at the collegiate level required
• Valid, unencumbered license as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse in Pennsylvania required
• Minimum 3-4 years of nursing experience and a demonstrated ability to perform at a high level is required
• A strong student focus is required, with the ability to relay information effectively
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are expected
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate the ability to prioritize, multitask, maintain attention to detail orientation, and excel in a fast-paced, high volume office
• A strong commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality is required
• Proficiency in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising is preferred

Pay

Salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This position is responsible to ensure that the ASN program’s curriculum and outcomes align with the guidelines of Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the PA State Board of Nursing. This includes modeling good instruction, including integration of technology, development of quality course syllabi, establishing policy and procedures within the program, and assisting others within the ASN program with these matters. This position also holds teaching responsibilities within the ASN program. This position requires a regular, full-time 10-month appointment from August – May, with additional required workdays during the summer at the beginning and end of the core academic year.
