Asleep Counselor

About the role

Brightway Living and Learning is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide compassionate, individualized support to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. In this role you will assist with daily living activities, foster independence, promote well‑being, and help participants connect with their communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and community outings.
• Foster independence by helping individuals develop life skills and make choices.
• Promote social inclusion by supporting participation in community activities.
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating empathy and patience.
• Collaborate effectively with a supportive team of DSPs, supervisors, and families.

Requirements

• Valid NYS driver’s license held for at least 18 months with a clean driving history.
• Successful completion of Brightway Living and Learning Transportation Orientation.
• Empathetic, compassionate, and patient demeanor.
• Positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Pay

Base hourly rate: $17.00. New hires who do not meet the driver‑license criteria will be offered a rate starting at $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part‑time position with shifts available Tuesday through Saturday. Various schedule options are offered to support work‑life balance.
