Duties and Responsibilities
- Accept ownership on Sign Language service requests; manage Sign Language Interpreters' orders from entering, fulfilling, timely updating on status (e.g., pending) and confirming Sign Language Interpreters' names scheduled with Service Requesters.
- Use advanced scheduling techniques to fulfill Sign Language Interpreter requests as needed.
- Manage internal W2 ASL VRI scheduling and coordinate 24/7 shift coverage.
- Maintain Sign Language related emails and inquiries.
- Take in-person and video remote session appointments as needed to ensure ASL coverage.
- Maintain close contact with Sign Language Interpreters and Service Requesters whenever an issue is at stake to ensure proper resolution.
- Exercise initiative, discretion, and independent judgment when supporting Universal Language Service Sign Interpreters and Service Requesters.
- Provide additional support and perform duties of Spoken Languages subdivisions as needed; act as a flex team member between Sign and Spoken Languages Interpreters Orders Fulfillment, Data-Entry, Orders Confirmations and Updates, On-Demand / Pre-Scheduled Language Services.
- Meet and exceed Service Requesters' (e.g., hospitals, government organizations) contractual obligations on Sign Language service level requirements and regulations by recruiting and onboarding enough Sign Language Interpreters, compliance resolution, and quality assurance programs.
- Act as an ombudsman; work with Sign Language Interpreters to explore and assist them in determining options to help resolve conflicts, problematic issues, or concerns, and bring systemic problems to the attention of the organization for resolution.
- Attend meetings with senior management and other department managers to discuss news, trends, challenges, within ASL Scheduling.
- Demonstrate exemplary discipline and work ethic for fellow employees and subordinates.
- Promote Universal Language Service's positive reputation in the language industry and Deaf community.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess one of the CI/CT, NAD IV or above, NIC, BEI national certifications.
- Minimum of 2-3 years working directly with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in any capacity.
- Previous lead, supervisor or scheduling experience preferred.
- Broad base of knowledge of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing culture and interpreting services.
- Extensive knowledge of scheduling and working in healthcare setting.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite

Salary range for the role is based on experience and ASL credentials required for the position.
