ASC Registered Nurse - PACU

About the role

The ASC Registered Nurse – PACU is an essential member of the health care team responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN consistently delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phase of the patient’s stay in the surgery center.

Responsibilities

• Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center’s administrative procedures.
• Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care.
• Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
• Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
• Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
• Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process.
• Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
• Performs other position related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certifications, Licensures Or Registry Requirements: RN license and certification as required by state. BLS certification required, ACLS required.
• Education Requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• Experience Requirements: 2 years' pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.

Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
