ASC Charge Nurse
Position Summary
The Charge Nurse provides both clinical and operational leadership within our Ophthalmic Ambulatory Surgery Center. This position assists the Director of Nursing with the day-to-day management of nursing services, staff scheduling, patient care coordination, and regulatory compliance. In the Director of Nursing's absence, the Charge Nurse assumes supervisory responsibilities to ensure efficient operations and continuity of care. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Charge Nurse provides direct patient care throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of surgery. This role collaborates closely with physicians, surgical staff, and other departments to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Affiliate with the hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, and development of nursing staff.
Foster a positive workplace culture through teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
Cook with staff schedules to ensure appropriate patient coverage while meeting regulatory and budgetary requirements.
Affiliate with employee performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and wage recommendations in accordance with company policies.
Partner with the Director of Nursing and ASC Coordinator to prepare for accreditation and regulatory surveys, ensuring staff readiness and compliance with all applicable standards.
Monitor departmental processes to maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory agency requirements.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
One (1) year or more of nursing experience in a surgical or ambulatory surgery setting.
Preferred previous leadership or charge nurse experience.

Close visual acuity required for patient assessment and clinical procedures.
