ASC Academic Coach - Federal Work Study (2025/2026)

About the role

The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides academic support across all majors and disciplines with the goal of helping students become engaged, self-sufficient learners who are confident in their abilities to reach their goals. ASC Academic Coaches are undergraduate or graduate students at ULV who focus on the holistic student and provide support for individuals, not solely their academics.

Responsibilities

• Assist with enhancing academic habits
• Find balance among obligations
• Long-term planning and goal-setting
• Manage academic anxiety
• Achieve personal and academic success
• Participate in weekly training sessions to create coaching experiences that serve as learning opportunities while also boosting students’ confidence

Requirements

• A strong academic background (minimum overall GPA of 3.25)
• Self-motivation, self-regulation, and a desire to mature and learn in a professional teaching/learning environment
• Ability to listen to the needs of students, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively in setting realistic and productive goals that promote student success
• Sensitivity to the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds of ASC students
• Dependability, personal accountability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
• Desire to support peers' social and emotional wellness, as well as their academic and professional endeavors

Qualifications

• Must be a current ULV student
