Artistic Director

About the role

The Assabet Valley Mastersingers (A VM), a respected community chorus with a 49-year tradition of choral-orchestral performance in suburban Massachusetts, seeks an Artistic Director to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Responsibilities

• Selects repertoire and leads rehearsals and concerts
• Shapes the season and serves as the public artistic voice of the organization
• Works in close collaboration with the General Manager and reports to the Executive Board

Requirements

• Proven choral conductor with experience in large-scale choral-orchestral repertoire
• Strong rehearsal technique and the ability to inspire a committed volunteer ensemble
• An artistic vision that honors A VM’s legacy while embracing new possibilities
• Collaborative instincts and comfort working within a nonprofit governance structure
• Able to take over in the Summer of 2027

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in choral conducting or music education preferred

Skills

• Ability to work collaboratively within a nonprofit governance structure
• Reliable accessibility to the MetroWest/Greater Boston area

Benefits

Compensation commensurate with experience and achievement.

Pay

Salary: $12,000.00 - $18,000.00 Annually
