About the role

The Artistic Assistant is a vital member of Shall See Theater’s artistic department, providing both organizational support and a creative perspective. This position ensures the smooth flow of communication, documentation, and day-to-day operations while also contributing an informed artistic eye to discussions. The Artistic Assistant supports the company’s mission to bring East Asian narratives and aesthetics to a global audience by balancing practical coordination with artistic awareness.

小隙大作戏剧工作室艺术助理是艺术部门的重要成员,在提供组织与日常事务支持的同时,也需具备一定的艺术判断力。该职位将保障沟通、文档及日常运作的顺畅,并在艺术讨论中贡献有见地的观点。艺术助理通过兼顾实际协调与艺术认知,支持剧院将东亚叙事与美学传播至全球观众的使命。

Responsibilities

Administrative Coordination

  • Support internal and external communication through various platforms (email, Slack, etc.).
  • Schedule, prepare for, and record minutes in department meetings.
  • Track deadlines and action items, ensuring follow-through in coordination with other departments.

Artistic Support

  • Participate in department discussions from an artistic perspective.
  • Attend to and assist with Shall See’s ongoing literary and production projects.

Information & Documentation Management

  • Build and update databases of artists, partners, and collaborators.
  • Organize artistic materials in collaboration with Marketing and Development to support artistic communication and fundraising efforts.

Requirements

  • Native in Mandarin Chinese and fluent in English.
  • Very strong interest in theatrical arts, performing arts, and arts administration.
  • Ideally pursuing or obtaining a BA or higher degree in Theater Studies, Arts Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experiences in administrative or assistant experience in arts organizations (including educational settings).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort with digital office software (Google Suite, Slack, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of theater-making processes and an ability to articulate artistic values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Ready to learn and grow.
  • Commitment to cultural equity, with a specific interest in East Asian narratives and underrepresented voices.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable to a growing non-profit environment.
