Position Summary
The Artillery Test Manager serves as the HDUSA's primary representative at Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) responsible for managing HDUSA personnel and assets and direct interface with US Army test and program representatives. The Test Manager is responsible for ensuring all personnel and test assets are available to achieve test objectives. Critical activities include ensuring FSR's are available to support tests, System Support Packages are managed, test incidents are reported, and logistics management is performed to ensure parts availability. The role requires prior experience supporting U.S. defense programs, an ability to lead field activities, and strong technical knowledge of military vehicle systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide on‑site management for operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of ground combat vehicle systems and subsystems.
- Serve as the primary test liaison to customer organizations, operators, maintainers, and program management teams.
- Lead test support activities, coordinating daily tasks, prioritizing customer needs, and ensuring timely response to technical issues.
- Document, track, and report field incidents, performance issues, and maintenance trends; escalate issues to engineering teams as necessary.
- Provide daily status reports of test activities and status of test personnel and assets.
- Manage the execution of modifications, upgrades, system tests, and field retrofits in accordance with program specifications.
- Communicate system performance data and field observations to engineering and logistics teams to support design improvements and lifecycle support planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, configuration management, and quality requirements during field operations.
- Participate in field trials, test events, and evaluation activities in various operational environments.
- Travel to customer sites, test ranges, operational units, and partner facilities as program requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field such as Engineering or equivalent military training/experience.
- Program management experience managing cost, schedule, and performance.
- Professional experience providing technical support to U.S. defense systems, platforms, or military customers.
- Strong working knowledge of ground vehicle systems (e.g., automotive, electrical, hydraulic, software‑based systems, weapon subsystems).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues independently and communicate solutions effectively.
- Experience working in field environments, including testing, operational support, or sustainment activities.
- Strong documentation, communication, and customer‑interaction skills.
- Ability to travel frequently and work in diverse environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting ground combat vehicles or other military tactical vehicle platforms.
- Active DoD security clearance.
- Familiarity with Army technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and sustainment processes.
- Experience coordinating with engineering teams, program managers, and government representatives.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in field support, maintenance, or test operations.
