About the role
The Part-Time High School Art Teacher delivers engaging, student-centered visual arts instruction that encourages creativity, skill development, and artistic expression. Teaching small classes, the Art Teacher supports students in exploring a variety of media and techniques while developing visual literacy and critical reflection.
Responsibilities
- Teach high school visual arts courses (grades 9–12), which may include drawing, painting, mixed media, and introductory design
- Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons that emphasize artistic technique, creative process, and self-expression
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying artistic experience and skill levels
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive studio classroom environment
- Absess student work using clear criteria and provide constructive, timely feedback
- Integrate art history, critique, and reflection into studio practice, as appropriate
- Manage art supplies, materials, and equipment responsibly
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives
- Support student exhibitions, displays, and community art projects as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (required)
- Secondary teaching experience preferred
- Teaching certification preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in a range of visual art media and techniques
- Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and instructional technology
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to student-centered learning and professional growth
Pay
$10,000 to $15,000 a year based on experience and FTE
