Part-Time Art Teacher

About the Role

K12, a Stride Company, provides families with an online option for a high-quality, personalized education experience. The Art Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Art Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals.

This is a part-time position that will likely pay $20-$25/hour, up to 25 hours per week. Art Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing.

Responsibilities

• Provides rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
• Commits to personalizing learning for all students and demonstrates a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
• Differentiates instruction based on student level of mastery.
• Augments course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
• Maintains grade book, ensures student academic integrity, makes student placement and promotion decisions, and alerts administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
• Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests.
• Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with and responds to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
• Supports learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment.
• Works collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and uses it to drive instructional decisions.
• Travels up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Active state teaching license in Art.
• Appropriate state Department of Education Art Teaching Certification.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday.
• Instructional hours fall between 9 AM–5 PM EST (or 8 AM–4 PM CST) based on the needs of the schools served.
• Availability and flexibility to support school and student needs as they arise.

Qualifications

• Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to modern technologies and teaching platforms.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working with the proposed age group.
• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
• Experience with online learning platforms.

Pay

This is a part-time hourly position up to 25 hours per week, with an anticipated hourly wage of $20-$25. The hourly wage is not guaranteed, as compensation can vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
