Responsibilities
- Teach engaging visual art lessons for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
- Introduce students to the elements and principles of art through various techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media, as well as other age-appropriate methods.
- Teach the works and contributions of significant artists throughout history, connecting art to history, literature, and culture.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes creativity, curiosity, respect, and excellence.
- Prepare lessons that align with the school's classical educational philosophy and Texas standards.
- Display student artwork throughout the campus and assist with school art showcases and special events.
- Cookbook and produce the annual school yearbook, including collecting photos, designing page layouts, collaborating with staff, and ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Photograph and document school events, activities, and special programs throughout the year for inclusion in the yearbook and other campus publications.
- Maintain art supplies, equipment, and an organized classroom.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with faculty and participate fully in school activities, professional development, and campus events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Texas teaching certification or the ability to qualify under ResponsiveEd hiring requirements.
- Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques and art history.
- Experience teaching elementary students preferred.
- Appreciation for or willingness to learn classical education methods.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- A commitment to modeling integrity, professionalism, and servant leadership.
